The 20-year-old college star and 2008 second-round draft pick recently agreed to a three-year, entry-level deal with the Canes, which will begin next season.
Dalpe, who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs in at 195 pounds, recently finished his second year with the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he led his college club in scoring with 45 points in 39 games and topped the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with 21 goals.
