Van Buskirk, 21, was recently acquired by the Florida Everblades of the ECHL in a trade that sent forward Chris Capraro to the South Carolina Sting Rays.
Van Buskirk, a native of Windsor, Ontario, has played a total of 23 ECHL games with the Sting Rays, Charlotte Checkers and Utah Grizzlies. He has yet to play for the Blades.
Prior to going pro, the young netminder spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League and was a teammate of fellow goalie Mike Murphy in 2007-08 when both played for the Belleville Bulls.
